At Medical Dentistry, we advise against home use of teeth whitening products, since products that are lacking in quality can damage the enamel, leaving lasting and irreparable consequences.

Dental Veneers

A dental veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured material made in the dental laboratory after extensive preparations at the clinic. Veneers are suitable for people who want to change the shape of their teeth and smile with confidence. Veneers are used in case of coloured, rotated or broken teeth, teeth that are misaligned in the dental arch and teeth that are irregularly or incorrectly shaped or spaced too far apart.

Dental veneers are made from bioinert porcelain, which means that they do not cause negative reactions in the body. In addition to being bioinert, the porcelain has excellent optical properties and with careful work, teeth can be made to look completely natural. The lifespan of dental veneers is 10 years before they have to be replaced, as experience and regular check-ups have shown.

When are veneers not recommended?

Prosthetics

A dental prosthetics is used to replace missing teeth. At the Medical Dentistry clinic, we keep up with the latest achievements in the field of dental materials and thus avoid using any metals in prostheses such as individual “porcelain” crowns or larger bridges. When treating individual teeth, we use a type of ceramic that is translucent to light and enables excellent integration of the prosthetic cap into the existing dental arch. When it comes to larger prostheses (bridges), we utilise zirconium oxide framework ceramic, a very hard material that ensures the durability of the prosthetics. Its advantages are supported by scientific findings as well as our own experience. This type of ceramic is not translucent to light, making it highly suitable for use with darker teeth that have been coloured by old metal frameworks or incorrect treatments in the past. On top of that, the manufacturer provides a 5-year guarantee on the frameworks, which is extremely rare in this industry.

The most common worry of our patients is how to survive the period of prosthetic rehabilitation because they still need to go to work and socialise. We realise that it is nearly impossible to go through this period in isolation, therefore we do not allow you to leave the clinic before you are not at least temporarily orderly. Therefore the procedure will not bother you in your everyday tasks.

Removal of dental plaque

Dark teeth whitening, gums, and yellowish surfaces of the teeth are aesthetic imperfections that can be easily remedied by thorough cleaning of the teeth, polishing and sanding of the teeth. After completing the procedures at the dentist or oral hygienist, careful care of the teeth and gums is also very important, which will keep the smile still so radiant.

Removal of dental plaque is an aesthetic procedure, but also an extremely important preventive action, since it prevents inflammation of periodontal tissues (periodontal disease). It is also an essential part of therapy for the initial inflammation of the gum, called gingivitis.

Čiščenju zobnega kamna vedno sledi poliranje zob, saj na ta način zgladimo površino, ki je zaradi uporabe ultrazvoka rahlo razbrazdana, in odstranimo preostala površinska zabarvanja na zobeh. Ker so zobje po poliranju zelo gladki, je nabiranje trdih in mehkih zobnih oblog oteženo.

Na težko dostopnih mestih ob stikih med zobmi zabarvanja odstranimo s peskanjem zob.
